Reddot Design Award 2017MBI with GeoCeramica® winner Red Dot Design Award 2017

Dutch pavement producer, MBI, has been awarded a Red Dot Design Award with its innovative decorative paving concept GeoCeramica®. An international expert panel has awarded the award for the high-quality design. GeoCeramica® is groundbreaking when it comes to the combination of functionality and aesthetics of decorative paving.

The best of both worlds

A year ago MBI introduced GeoCeramica®, a Dutch innovation of “ceramics on concrete”. This new paving concept combines the best of both worlds. The aesthetic and user benefits of ceramics and the functionality of concrete. The success of GeoCeramica® is unprecedented and the product quality more than proven. The reward with the prestigious Red Dot Design Award is a crown on the work of MBI.

The power of design

The secret of success is in technical production innovation. The invention of the connecting component AquaFerm®, with which the ceramic top layer is inseparably connected with the special Stabikorn® base, is unique. The tile forms a whole and therefore has ideal properties. In addition to the fact that this system reduces the construction costs of ceramics by 50%, completely new applications are conceivable. This is the first time a sustainable alternative is available compared to natural stone in shopping centers and other public places.

Professor Dr. Peter Zec, founder and CEO of the Red Dot Award:

“Red Dot winners are the model of the right design strategy. They prove that high-quality design and economic success go hand in hand. This award from the critical Red Dot jury can be seen as the highest recognition for successful design policy.
