Handy guide on how to install GeoCeramica®
Unlike ‘normal’ ceramics, the special foundation required for a stable terrace is actually already attached to the ceramic tiles. This makes GeoCeramica® quick to install. Not only do you save on the cost of the foundation, you also save on the labour hours required to make a foundation. Consult this page for written instructions and an instruction video.

Sand as a sub-base
The uniqueness of GeoCeramica® is that you can place it directly on the prepared sand bed. No special foundation is necessary and is actually suitable for any type of soil. We recommend clean masonry sand with a thickness of at least 10cm for a well-permeable surface. A sand bed of at least 20 cm is recommended for soft or poorly permeable surfaces, such as clay or peat soil. Highly recommended is a finishing layer (about 5 cm) of gravel or grit in faction size 1-3 mm. This has excellent stability and drainage properties. In that case, we recommend MBI weed-free sand as a grout. Extra stabilisation by means of mixing TRASS cement, a lime-free cement, is a good option for soft surfaces. In this case, your patio is less likely to subside. If you are going to use cement-bound grout (hard grout), a stabilised substrate is necessary. With a hard grout, for example Aqua Color Joints, we recommend stabilisation with 25 kg of TRASS cement per 8 to 10 m2 of tile work, so that the surface is stabilised but remains water-permeable.

Installation is quick and due to the special integrated spacers you get perfect joints. Every professional or experienced do-it-yourself handyman can handle this. GeoCeramica® can also be installed on tile supports, even large sizes.
Installation instructions 120x30cm GeoCeramica®
Ceramic tiles in general often have a slight curvature. This curvature is tested and must fall within certain tolerances. Those tolerances are determined over a certain distance. As the size gets larger, these values can diverge further. This means very concretely that the outer sides of our 120x30cm tiles have a curvature that is permitted and acceptable, but must be accompanied by good advice.
As mentioned, a slight curvature is very normal in a ceramic tile. However, the unique format 120x30cm requires extra attention for that reason. By placing the tiles in a half-brick connection, the most diverse values will be close to each other. In some cases, this produces an irregular pattern. Therefore, it is better to put the stones in a 1/3 relation to each other. In this manner, it looks the best!
