Van Greunsvenpark: A Tribute to Their Mayor

The revamped center includes Van Greunsvenpark, named in honor of Jan van Greunsven, who served as mayor of Vlijmen from 1977 to 1990. This park, located between the Square, the town hall, and the Roman Catholic church, was officially opened on December 13, 2019, by alderman Mart van der Poel. The park serves as a green heart in the center, which now finally has a true park space.

Benefits of NCB Stones

NCB stones contribute to a sustainable outdoor living environment by promoting grass growth and rainwater infiltration. These water-permeable concrete stones have an open structure in the middle, allowing both water and grass to easily penetrate. This design plays a crucial role in the park's water management strategy and helps reduce flooding.

Prefab Eleganta Elements

The prefab concrete elements from the Eleganta collection used are strong, low-maintenance, and versatile. In Van Greunsvenpark, the potential of these prefab elements has been fully utilized. For example, inscriptions have been added to the concrete elements, and some seating units feature ceramic with a wood-look finish. The park's name is even engraved in the benches, adding a personal touch to the public space.

Space for Water with NCB Stones

Innovative Water Management

An important aspect of the new design is the space for water collection. Along the edge of the park, there is a walking promenade where water is captured by the NCB stones. The designer creatively used both open and solid types of NCB stones, as well as two different colors: anthracite and gray. This not only creates a visually appealing environment but also provides practical solutions for additional parking spaces and effective water management.
