Concrete grass pavers
NCB stones are water-permeable concrete pavers with an open space of no less than 42%. This promotes grass growth and infiltration of rainwater. Perfect for paving parking areas, driveways, and green pathways. The NCB stone is also available in a complementary closed variant for an attractive streetscape. Our NCB stones are often referred to as NCB cobblestones. Cobblestones sound nice, but they are actually concrete stones! Quite durable, too.
Provides space for greenery and water
The open spaces in the NCB stone provide space for greenery and promote water infiltration. Together, the open and closed grass pavers form a stylish and functional paving solution for climate-adaptive design of public and private spaces. The NCB clinker is available in all colors on request.
NCB types
The NCB pavers from MBI are open concrete paving, available in four variants:
- Type 1: Open stone (42% open space)
- Type 2: Semi-open brick (17% open space)
- Type 3: Completely dense stone (0% open space)
- Type 4: Connecting brick (8.5% open space)
Processing
The foundation under the NCB pavers is basically no different than traditional paving. However, it is important that the substrate is permeable to water. The grass pavers can be processed mechanically. They can then be filled with substrate or coarse grit. This allows the grass pavers to retain their water-permeable character.
Promote grass growth
To promote grass growth, we recommend filling the NCB pavers with substrate and then sweeping the gutters empty again. This prevents the young, emerging grass from immediately being flooded or flattened. You can sow the NCB clinker with a grass mixture of your own choice. The paved surface is accessible for walking and driving traffic immediately after filling with substrate.
