Beach Garden in Monster: An Oasis of Tranquility after Surfing
Naomi and Sjoerd wanted to transform their dreary garden into a bright and serene beach garden where they could fully relax after a day of surfing. One of their main wishes was a beautiful outdoor shower. With the help of Eigen Huis en Tuin, their deep backyard was transformed from a drab place to a stunning beach garden.
Beach Garden Design.
The deep garden is divided into several zones, each designed to accommodate family and friends. The different sections are cleverly “split up” through the use of various substrates and elevations. The lounge and dining areas are elevated, with tiles forming an illuminated walkway between the two terraces. In addition, shells have been used as semi-paving and other beach-like elements to create a real beach feel in the garden.
The Construction of the Beach Garden
To begin with, all of the paving was removed. After grouting and flattening the sand substrate, construction of the beach garden could begin. The raised decking was installed, complete with root cloth to prevent weeds. Then the semi-paving was poured and grass and garden tiles were laid. To create a green “wall,” Tom created a planter with Giga split blocks filled with tropical plants.
GeoCeramica® and Lighting in the Beach Garden
To connect the different sections of the garden, long-format GeoCeramica® tiles were laid along the length of the garden. For an enchanting effect in the evening, built-in spot lights were installed along the walkway. Thanks to the pre-drilled cutouts of GeoCeramica® tiles, this was an easy job. GeoCeramica® offers not only aesthetic benefits, but is also practical and durable, perfect for a beach garden.
