Which do I use when?
Grouting tiles is the solution for a beautiful and long-lasting weed-free terrace. MBI offers a wide range of jointing sand for your terrace or paving. There is a suitable jointing sand for all types of tiles and substrates. Available in different colours, so there is always a colour that matches your tiles or other paving. Our range of jointing sand includes: weed-free sand, AquaColor Joints, AquaColor Joints 2Drive, Gator XP G2 Sand, Gator Tile Sand, Gator EuroStone and GreenSand. Weed-free jointing sand
Give weeds less of a chance with our weed-free jointing sand. This jointing sand comes 100% weed-free from the bag and also has a weed-inhibiting effect. This preventive effect comes from a coating with a high PH value, which prevents weeds from germinating. This coating retains its effect for a long time. MBI Weed-Free Jointing Sand is suitable for all types and sizes of joints. The gradation is so fine that it can nest in even the narrowest joints. Available in three colours: basalt (black), stone grey and neutral (sand colour). Visit one of our dealers.
Environmentally-friendly grout
The jointing sand is coloured with organic dyes that do not harm the environment (and is therefore called Bio sand by our dealers).
Tip for long-term weed-free paving
Every garden suffers from “drifting sand”. This is sand that comes from the environment and also gets into the joints. This sand is obviously not weed-repellent. In spring, blow or sweep the top layer out of the joints (about 4 to 5 mm) and sprinkle a new quantity of weed-free jointing sand into the joints. This way, you maintain a beautiful and weed-free terrace for a long time.
Usage
Process the jointing sand dry and sweep in only on a dry street. Do not leave any residue.
AquaColor Joints Grout
Or instead of MBI Weed-Free Joint Sand, choose a hard joint. Especially for this, MBI has included the high-quality AquaColor Joints in its range. These joints are hard, do not wash out and are particularly weed-resistant. The joints remain slightly flexible so they do not crack easily. This grout is recommended for all types of tiles, but especially for ceramics, GeoProArte® and GeoCeramica®. Available in six different colours, such as neutral (sand colour), stone grey, basalt, light grey, dark grey and black. Note: For best results, use AquaColor Joints on a well-stabilised substrate.
AquaColor Joints 2Drive
Especially for our 6 cm GeoCeramica® for the driveway, AquaColor Joints 2Drive has been developed. It is particularly suitable for joints of at least 3 mm. It is a larger grain, somewhat permeable to water and adheres very well to the side of the tile, creating a strong joint. AquaColor Joints 2Drive is resistant to frost and de-icing salt and is weed-free.
Note: For best results, use AquaColor Joints (2Drive) on a well-stabilised substrate. Due to its low water permeability, this grout should be used on a draining substrate. Is processed wet and is self-compacting.
Gator
Gator XP G2 Jointing sand
A semi-hard polymer-based grout. Grouting is easy: sweep in on dry paving, compact, water and ready! This grout can already be applied at joints of 2 mm and is very widely used for baked clinkers, but is suitable for almost all types of tiles, including ceramic tiles. Because of its water permeability, this grout is best used if the ceramic tiles are laid on a drainage mortar (stabilised surface). Available in 4 colours: black, anthracite, ivory and beige.
Gator Nitro and Nitro-X
This jointing material is air-curing and water-permeable. It is a ready-to-use mixture of calibrated sand and a patented resin formula that cures on exposure to air and cures from top to bottom in the joint. The product can be applied in wet or dry weather above 3°C. Use with >3cm ceramic tiles, concrete bricks and natural stone. If the substrate is barely draining, Gator Nitro-X can be used. This fine jointing sand is also ideal for terraces, pool decks, walkways and driveways.
Gator EuroStone for the driveway
MBI Gator EuroStone is specially developed for paving with a higher traffic load (driveway) in combination with clinkers, cobbles, courtstones and natural stone. It is a semi-hard polymer-based grout and can already be applied to narrow joints from 2 mm. It is a smaller grain, water-repellent and adheres very well to the side of the tile, creating a strong joint. It can be used on both permeable and water-impermeable substrates. Is processed bone-dry and is not self-compacting. After sweeping, the stone or tile must be vibrated again with a suitable vibrator that does not damage the surface. When re-wetting use sufficient water.
GreenSand
CO2-reducing jointing sand
GreenSand is a sweeping sand containing the mineral Olivine. This stone has a unique property: it removes carbon dioxide. By reacting with the CO2 in the soil and air, Olivine breaks it down into other elements (such as silicate, among others) that are healthy for plants. Thus, it removes CO2 from the air.
