Community Garden Brings Social Connection to Residential Care Complex in Uden
In this attractively designed outdoor space, with low-maintenance paving and concrete seating elements, residents meet each other in beautiful surroundings. Thanks to the efforts of volunteers and sponsors, including MBI, this beautiful project became a reality.
A home for young adults with intellectual disabilities
Het Klavier in Uden is home to 14 young adults with a mental disability. Here they can live largely independently, under the guidance of care provider ZorgWiel. This project was the initiative of Rob Hoefs, who wanted to offer his son and other young adults with mental disabilities a home. In this he found support from parents who wanted to participate in the foundation. Many of the young adults already knew each other and the foundation was soon set. The location in Uden had been purchased by construction company Peter Peters from Schaijk. With a design and a socially committed investor, the realization of the residential-care complex could begin.
Communal garden as icing on the cake
In addition to the residential-care complex, a communal garden was also realized. After the construction of the residential care complex, there was almost no budget left for the garden. With the help of volunteers and sponsors, including MBI for the paving, a beautiful garden was created that has quickly become a favorite spot. Marco van Deursen, parent and leader of the garden group, got in touch with MBI when he met fellow Prince Carnival Robert van der Meijden. And MBI was happy to support the design of the garden with a donation of all the necessary paving materials.
Atmospheric paving
Based on Roy Swinkels' garden design, MBI supplied suitable paving for the community garden. Atmospheric outdoor ceramic tiles including small format stones in warm colors and GeoCeramica® tiles with varied designs were chosen. Both are absolute mood creators and remain beautiful for a long time because they are colorfast and low maintenance.
Concrete seating elements and park borders
Concrete elements offer a beautiful and durable solution for parks, squares and private and (communal) gardens. In the communal garden, light gray Eleganta park bands were chosen that are multifunctional. The custom-made park tires function both as an enclosure for plants and as a seating edge. This has created additional seating space and atmosphere in the garden. The elements, like the ornamental paving, are very low maintenance and strong. As a result, the residents of The Klavier will enjoy them for years to come.
