MBI announces its largest investment policy to date

The Brabant-based family business MBI, market leader in the production and sale of concrete and ceramic tiles and stones, announces an ambitious investment plan for a healthy and sustainable future.

Investing in the Future

To maintain its market leadership and continue meeting ever-increasing quality and sustainability requirements, continuous investment in its production facilities is essential. MBI has made a radical decision that will have significant consequences for its production site in Veghel.

The oldest production facility for concrete paving materials, MBI's site in Veghel, will close at the end of 2024 to make way for the expansion of existing production facilities in Aalst (near Zaltbommel), Nieuw-Lekkerland, and Kampen. With a substantial capital injection, these locations will become some of the most modern and sustainable production facilities of their kind. The focus will fully shift to sustainable and relevant products that align with today's needs. MBI's goal is to produce in a fully climate-neutral manner and further expand its product portfolio for the development of both public and private spaces.

Since 2007, MBI’s strategy has focused on innovative products with added value. Where function alone is important, MBI is less visible. But when aesthetics, sustainability, and human well-being are at stake, MBI cannot be overlooked. The sustainable developments in machine-laid paving in public spaces also require greater flexibility. To this end, MBI will continue its investments in its Aalst and Kampen sites, where street paving stones will be formed in the correct patterns by robots in the production line. Additionally, a brand-new tile factory is currently under construction in Kampen. Last month, a fourth production line was put into operation in Nieuw-Lekkerland, specifically designed for the further expansion of the unique GeoCeramica® concept.

The decision to undertake the largest investment program in MBI's history goes hand in hand with the choice to close the oldest site in Veghel and increase and modernize production capacity at other locations. The change will be implemented without forced layoffs, and the headquarters will remain at a new location within the Veghel region, where the company has been based since 1969. For most employees at the Veghel production site, vacancies are available at the nearby Aalst location.

People and the environment play a prominent role both inside and outside MBI. With this modern and challenging strategy, the company continues to live by its motto: #MOOIMETMBI
