Turn your roof terrace into an eye-catcher
Inviting roof terrace
The residents of an Amsterdam flat were fed up with the grey concrete slabs on their roof terrace. The terrace did not invite people to sit outside, the tiles were uneven and crooked, and it was an eyesore. After considering the options, they opted for spectacular coloured ceramic tiles (2 cm thick) in combination with tile supports, which perfectly matched the interior tiles. This upgraded their entire home and created a neater look.
How did they do it?
The residents often dreamed about the possibilities of their roof terrace, but didn't know where to start. They visited an MBI dealer and discovered that the boring concrete tiles could easily be replaced with 2 cm thick ceramic tiles. The roof structure could easily support these tiles, as there had previously been 4 cm thick concrete tiles. To their surprise, there was even a colour that matched their indoor tiles, allowing them to visually extend their living room to the outside.
The work
They enlisted the help of family members to remove the old concrete tiles. It was hard work, as the heavy tiles had to be carried down two flights of stairs. Transporting the lighter ceramic tiles was a lot easier, which already felt like a win. Next, the landscaper, recommended by the MBI dealer, neatly laid the entire terrace on tile supports. This made laying the ceramic tiles very easy.
Easy use of tile supports
Ceramic tiles are very straight, and if you make sure you choose the right quality, they are also rectified. But the roof was anything but straight. The concrete tiles were also uneven and crooked, but the residents had already come to terms with that. However, the landscaper cleaned up the mess when constructing the new terrace. By placing an adjustable tile support with a cushioning mat at each corner, the differences in the substructure are no longer visible. They were surprised at how quickly this was done. You can lift a tile from the terrace while they are still very solid. Very practical! Compared to the porous concrete tiles, the ceramic tiles are also very easy to maintain! By placing planters around the edges, they feel like they have more privacy.
More privacy with planters
By placing planters around the edges of the terrace, the residents created more privacy. This made the roof terrace not only stylish, but also an inviting and practical outdoor space. Turn your roof terrace into an eye-catcher with durable and stylish ceramic tiles and enjoy an inviting outdoor space all year round!

Disclaimer: expert advice. In general, installation on tile supports is suitable. However, which tile (and corresponding installation method) is best suited to your situation always depends on various factors. For example, it is always important to check what the structure in question can support and what the substructure is. It is best to discuss these specific aspects of the plan of action with an expert who can assess this on site.
