Stone strips for outdoor use
Processing advice for stone strips
Stone strips are applied directly to the façade or insulation boards. There is a choice of different systems and/or types of insulation boards. For correct application, we advise you to consult the supplier's instructions. Below are some points of attention for processing MBI stone strips.
- Processing dark-coloured stone strips
- Necessity of dilatation with stone strips
Avoid cracking
Expansion joints are also necessary for stone strips
Stone strips are glued to the support, in most cases the insulation boards. Boards are subject to change (contraction or expansion) and the strips ‘move’ with them. Fortunately, grout also has a slight flexibility that can accommodate these physical properties. However, this is to a limited extent.
If the length is too long, there is a chance that the moving wall section will cause cracking that is visible even in the strips. Therefore, a dilatation plan, which includes a joint in the right places, is also a requirement with stone strips to prevent wall sections that are too large.
