Inspiration from nature for Villa Kerckebosch
When designing the recently completed Villa Kerckebosch, Engel Architects drew inspiration from the wooded surroundings of the residence.
Facade bricks like tree bark
The wooded surroundings inspired Engel Architects in their design for the Kerckebosch villa. The architects used soft, natural grey tones in the brickwork and contrasting wood tones in the window frames to match the various shades of brown and grey in the tree trunks and the sandy colours of the soil.
The emphatic vertical and horizontal lines are also derived from the surroundings. According to Engel Architects, the vertical lines of the window frames and the horizontal lines in the overhangs and brickwork are inspired by the vertical trunks and horizontal lines of branches and the tree line of crowns.
