Graskei als duurzame bestratingsoplossing
Almere Duin is een wijk aan het strand met ruimte om te wonen, werken en recreëren te midden van duinen en bos. Naast 3000 woningen die dit jaar in de verkoop gaan, is ook ruimte gereserveerd voor commercieel vastgoed. De omgeving biedt daarmee nog meer mogelijkheden voor recreatie.
Voor de natuurlijke omgeving is gekozen voor een bestrating die daarbij past qua uitstraling maar ook qua functionaliteiten. De MBI graskei vormt hoofdzakelijk de wegen voor vervoer. Deze open bestrating past qua uitstraling perfect in de natuurlijke duinomgeving en gaat bovendien erosie tegen. Daarnaast maakt het de infiltratie van hemelwater en (duin)grasgroei mogelijk.
Waddensteen als ode aan de omgeving
MBI heeft samen met bureau Zus Rotterdam en de Gemeente Almere aan tafel gezeten om een projectsteen te ontwikkelen die als ode aan het duingebied zou zijn. Met het duingebied en de zee als inspiratie is de ‘waddensteen’ ontwikkelt met schelpen in de hoofdrol en twee zandtinten. De waddensteen is ingezet voor voetpaden, molgoten en de inritten.
